Qilian Mountain
In the Qilian Mountain, there exists virgin forest, which covers an area of 157,000 hectares with wood reserve of about two million cubic meters. The plants there include spruce, cypress, poplar and willow, and various shrubberies. The Qilian Mountain is one of the major forest zones in Gansu Province. In the dense trees and snow peaks herds of deer can be seen.
The Best Time for Tourists
There are no distincitive seasons in the Qilian Mountian. Spring there doesn't look like spring and summer doesn't look like summer. The idiom "snow in June in the Qilian Mountian" can used to describe the climatic condition in the mountian. However, the best time for tourism is July and August.
Accommodation
To tour the mountain, tourists would better choose to live in the nearby Zhangye City, where they can find a lot of hotels of different levels with reasonable price.
Food
The snack street in East Minzu Road in Zhangye City has several rows of stalls selling various snacks: small dough ball soup, mutton soup, spicy rice, fried pig blood sausage, mutton head soup, rice noodle, bean soup, fried chicken rolls, and fried bun.
